Khadija Foundation, Haidri Beverage’s very own initiative was founded in January 2013 with the objective of providing free of cost vaccination against Hepatitis B to all especially the unprivileged masses. In addition to this, Khadija Foundation has a qualified team for providing first aid and basic medical services not only to employees and their families but to the local community as well. It is a registered, not-for-profit organization with the mission to make Pakistan free of Hepatitis B.
In the spirit of serving the community, the Khadija foundation drives vaccination camps against Hepatitis B and has administered over 95000 free doses. Over 20000 people have completed their vaccination course. Khadija foundation team has visited over a hundred different locations both local and far-flung. Vaccination campaigns have been held in remote locations with special emphasis on educating and informing individuals about hepatitis B as well as vaccinating them.
What is Hepatitis B ?
Hepatitis B is a very common liver disease in Pakistan. Chronic Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection affects over 350 million people worldwide and over 1 million deaths occur annually due to HBV-related chronic liver disease. Pakistan’s 8-10% population is Hepatitis B carrier. Symptoms of Hepatitis B include jaundice, fever, persistent fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, etc.
Hepatitis B spreads by contact with blood like a blood transfusion or body fluids, by contact with contaminated objects like razors, toothbrushes, dental instruments, sharing infected needles, and piercing.
